So it turns out my stomach has been fucked all day! I think I must have eaten something bad, because I didn't drink much last night, and I didn't feel hung over, I just had a bit of the old Montezuma's Revenge.
I woke up this morning - toilet time. I thought I was going to die. But after a couple hours, my stomach was feeling somewhat stable, so I decided to make my way to Krabi. I headed downtown, and hopped on a 3.5 hour bus to Krabi. The bus ride was fine. Very beautiful drive through the mountains. Although some of the mountains were not so much mountains, as mountain sized thumbs sticking out of the ground, covered with jungle trees. Very amazing scenery. Just like something out of a movie. When I got to Krabi, I hopped in a sawnthaw, which is basically a pickup truck with a roof over the box, and a row of benches down each side, so it's like a little bus. Very common here in Thailand, and very cheap. They are how the locals travel. It was cool driving into town - there were Thai people doing Thai things everywhere. Kids playing in the streets, dogs running around in their dog communities. The dogs aren't really owned by anyone, they just kind of live among everyone.
So halfway from the bus station to town, my stomach decided it was going to rebel. Shit. Literally! It was only about a 15 minute ride, but I had another 15 minute walk to the guest house. It was a labor every step trying not to shit my pants! Finally I got to the guest house. Usually you pay up front, but I said 'please, I need the toilet in my room!' They were good about it and took me right to my room. After doing my business, I was drenched in sweat, stomach cramping, feeling absolutely horrible! I turned on the fan and the airconditioner full blast and lay on my bed in my undies for about 15 minutes until I started feeling like somewhat of a human again.
After that I went for a two hour Thai massage, to make myself feel better. And it worked! I've actually been feeling pretty good ever since.
So I decided to take a walk around and see what there was to see. By this time it was evening, and I found a little bar playing some wicked breaks full blast. There were no customers (only 8 pm) but I didn't care. So I sat down, and the proprietor came and sat with me - turns out it was a lady-boy of Thailand. Nice... girl? Actually, I'm still in the bar. There are only two other customers, so the lady boy is going to take me to the one club in town (I made sure it wasnt 'that' kind of club!). I'm not sure exactly what I'm getting myself into, but I'm the kind to ditch out of the situation if I don't like it, so I'm going to go and see what it's like. I came for adventure, and adventure is what I'm getting! She (he?) assured me its both men and women, and pretty much all Thai people. Should be quite the adventure! I'll post more about it next time.
