Airports

So far today I've been in/through four major cities in the world. I started out in Yokohama (pop: 3.5 mil) went through Tokyo (pop: ridiculous - something like 25 mil with the surrounding areas), Taipei (pop: 10 mil) and now I'm in Bangkok (pop: 6 mil). That's a lot of people whose presence I've been close to today.

So I'm sitting in the airport right now waiting for my flight to Phuket. It's a different airport than the one I came through last time. They shut that one down, and this is the new current airport. It's pretty nice. All glass, concrete and steel. Very industrial looking, but pretty classy. It even looked nice from outside as we were taxiing from the runway to the terminal.

I slept so hard for both my flights today (Tokyo -> Taipei, Taipei -> Bangkok). No sleep will do that! But now my sleep is all screwed up! I didn't sleep at night, and slept half the day, and moved over a couple time zones. I have no idea if I will be able to sleep tonight.

So I've discovered three (edit: 4) things so far that I forgot:

1) My portable hard drive - this one is pretty big. FIrst of all, I put a bunch of movies on it to watch in my hotel room during my trip. Now I have nothing to watch. The other crappy thing though is that I wanted to store all my photos on it during my journey. The hard drive on this little PC that I'm using is pretty tiny. Although I have remote storage I can work with, so all is not lost.
2) My star alliance card. Crap! Cant collect my points for my flight.
3) My extension cord for my headphones on my mp3 player. My headphones are just too short! I have to hold my mp3 player all close to my neck now - what a pain in the ass! I'm going to have to figure something out.
edit: 4) The cord to connect my camera to my computer. This sucks. I really don't know what I'm going to do about this one - it's a big wrench in my plans. I'll figure something out though - maybe just burning all my pictures to CD as I go. But I wanted to attach some pics of the airports to this post! I wonder if my camera has bluetooth...

Final thought - I LOVE smoothies. I bought one here in the Bangkok airport. Cost me 120 bhat - about USD$3.00 give or take. But it was wicked. FIrst they filled the cup half up with berries. Then they added ice and fruit juice (no sugar or additives!), made it into a smoothy, and topped it with more berries! Something like that doesn't exist in Japan. The most you would ever get would be 2 or 3 of each berry. It was soooooo good.

I wish I could get a massage in the airport here somewhere!

Next stop - Phuket. My plane leaves in 1.5 hours (it's 6:20pm here now). I have zero plans when I get there. I'm going to have to get from the airport to the city, then track down a hotel for myself. But, I'm not worried. Actually, quite the opposite - I'm quite excited! Adventure! That's what I came for, and it's the same reason I came without Yoko - my adventure is her stress.
